If you already subscribe to the ‘DBS Update Service’ then you do not need to do anything else.
The council uses TaxiPlus - taxiplus.co.uk which is a third-party agent that also deals with the DVLA driver licence check as well. TaxiPlus provides ongoing information to the council so you must register with them here https://app.taxiplus.co.uk/signup
Existing Drivers: If you are already registered with the DBS Update Service but you have received a notification from the council that you need an Enhanced DBS Certificate and you are up-to-date with your annual payment, and you have not changed your address, then it is likely that you have not registered with TaxiPlus.
To register with TaxiiPlus you will need the certificate number of your Enhanced DBS which you can locate by logging into your account on the Update Service. You do not need to pay anything to TaxiPlus to do this.
If you are a new applicant You will need to use TaxiPlus and register with them as soon as you have received your Enhanced DBS certificate, which will cost £41, using the certificate number.. It is very important to understand that if you have a change of address you must inform the council. This will also require you to obtain a brand new Enhanced DBS certificate. Or, you can register with TaxiPlus and pay a fee where they will apply for your Enhanced DBS certificate for you although this is more expensive to do it that way.
The Update Service annual fee is £15 paid by a registered card.
It is important to remember that if you move to a new address then you will have to obtain a brand new Enhanced DBS certificate at the cost of £41. Once you have received this you then have a limited period of 30 days to re-register with the Update Service. You will then have to update the certificate number with TaxiPlus.
If you have found yourself in such a position where you have not kept up your payment to the online Update Service then you must obtain a brand new Enhanced DBS certificate at the cost of £41 and then you have a limited period to re-register with the DBS Update Service of within 30 days of the date of issue printed on your Enhanced DBS certificate using the new certificate number.
It is very important to remember that if the card you have registered with the DBS Updating Service has changed and you have not submitted the new card details, then your annual payment will not be accepted and you will have to start the whole process over again to obtain a brand new Enhanced DBS certificate as this entirely your responsibility. So, if you have changed your card details then it is important to update this immediate on Updating Service. Currently the UDS does not have the facility for a standing order.
